The Ultimate Latex Care Guide: Shine & Longevity for Your Luxury Outfits

Just treated yourself to an exclusive latex outfit from My Holy Desire? Congratulations! Latex is a fascinating material – organic, sensual, and absolutely unique. To ensure you enjoy your piece for years to come, it needs proper care ("Holy Education").

Forget harsh cleaners or cooking oils! We'll show you how to treat your latex like a pro – naturally, with our top recommendation: Vivishine.

1. The First Time: Preparation & Dressing

New latex often arrives in a matte condition. This is due to the talcum powder that protects the material during storage.

  • Powder vs. Silicone: For dressing, you can either use talcum powder or a special dressing aid. Silicone-based products ensure you glide effortlessly into even the tightest catsuits without overstretching the material.
  • Caution with Jewelry & Nails: Latex is extremely tear-resistant, but sensitive to sharp objects. Long fingernails or rings can cause small tears that lead to ripping under tension.

2. The Perfect Shine: Polishing with Vivishine

The secret to the deep, mirrored shine you know from professional shoots is high-quality silicone oil.

  • How to do it: We recommend the classic Vivishine. You can either add it directly to the final rinse water after washing ("Dip & Dry") or use a polishing cloth with a little silicone oil.
  • The result: Vivishine forms a protective film around the latex, preventing sticking and providing a breathtaking wet-look effect.

3. After Wearing: Proper Cleaning

Sweat, skin oils, and perfume can damage latex over time. Therefore: Wash after every wear!

  1. Hand wash: Use lukewarm water and preferably ViviClean as detergent.
  2. No rubbing: Gently move the outfit in the water.
  3. Rinse thoroughly: All detergent residues must be removed.
  4. Drying: Hang the outfit on a plastic hanger in the shade. Never in the sun or on a heater!

4. The Enemies of Latex: What You Should Avoid

Latex is a natural product (natural rubber) and reacts chemically to certain influences:

  • Metals: Copper and brass leave permanent brown stains on light-colored latex. Be careful with coins and cheap jewelry!
  • Oils & Fats: Baby oil, Vaseline, or fatty body lotions dissolve the structure of the latex. Use only silicone- or water-based products.
  • UV light: Sunlight makes latex brittle and discolors it.

5. Storage: Safely in the Wardrobe

If you're not wearing your outfit for a longer period:

  • Dark & Dry: Ideally in a garment bag made of opaque plastic.
  • No Contact: Different latex colors can "bleed." Store black latex separately from light colors.
  • No Creases: Make sure no sharp creases form to avoid weakening the material.
